THREDBO IN THE SUMMER MONTHS
Have you ever considered visiting the Snowy Mountains outside the winter period ? Well, if you haven’t……...think again. Thredbo Village, Perisher Valley & the surrounding areas normally offer a combination of magical sunny days matched with the exhilaration of crisp clean air that only being at altitude in the mountains can deliver – of course, the weather is not guaranteed, however there are so many activities with which to get involved that a day of thin cloud cover sometimes provides a welcome relief.
When’s the last time you have been …………
Horseriding on some of the most picturesque trails you have ever seen
Trout fishing, see Munjarra's Fly Fishing weekends.
Sampling a variety of schnapps at a schnapps tasting
Hurtling down a 700m luge-style bobsled track determined to try and let the brake off next time
Hurtling down the ‘Super trail’ on a mountain bike trying to figure out how you apply the brakes
Participating in a 14 ball Ambrose on the very testing 9 hole ‘Royal Thredbo’ Golf Course
Enjoying a few sets of tennis followed by a pizza and a ‘bottle of red’ in the sunshine watching the (Thredbo) world pass you by
Swimming a few laps of the 50m Thredbo ‘Olympic’ pool at the AIS Facility or attacking the Mission Inflatable obstacle course or waterslide
Enjoying a ride up the chairlift without skiis or boards, to Eagle’s Nest and beyond
Walking in ‘them there hills’ - perhaps to Mt Kosciusko
Water-skiing, sailing or fishing on Lake Jindabyne
All in the same few days ?? If the answer is no, then you haven’t been to the Snowy Mountains over the New Year period, or in the January school holidays or at Easter time.
If none of the above appeals to you, and I find that too hard to believe, then Thredbo members would be familiar with the extensive Film Library that our President has created in the TV wing. Now is your chance to catch up on all the latest DVD movie releases as well as many of the ‘old classics’ ( and I mean the movies !) without having to leave the building.
Staying at Munjarra Ski Club from early October to early June is very reasonably priced - starting at $20 a night for a Member at the Perisher lodge to $24 a night at Thredbo lodge. Obviously, you cook your own meals, or venture out to one of the many local eateries. For a family or a group of adults, it is one of the most reasonably priced, fun filled but relaxing vacations you will ever experience.
The Thredbo website has an extensive list of activities for summer in the Snowy Mountains.
